Over the Bridges

Annapolis sits where the Severn River meets the Chesapeake Bay. When people talk about going over the bridge, they’re usually talking about the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (official name: the Governor William Preston Lane, Jr. Memorial Bridge). But in Annapolis, there are many bridges to cross and with the advent of spring, scores of travelers and day-trippers will be crossing them. Here are some good reasons you may want to join them.

Dining Al Fresco in Annapolis

Annapolitans are an outdoorsy bunch, preferring to be outside no matter what the season. Proof is the popularity of the famous Frost Bite races on winter Sundays, the year-round runners you see on the city’s sidewalks and the known “fact” that it never rains on our golf courses or lacrosse fields. So if you enjoy dining al fresco, Annapolis has a variety of appealing options, weather permitting.

For The Love of Brunch

Back in Ireland, where I’m from, brunch was just catching on when I left last year to follow my husband to the States. I’d already gotten hooked on the traditional Irish brunch: pork sausages, rashers (thick bacon), black and white pudding, mushrooms, fried tomato, baked beans, and thick soda bread. So, I was thrilled to find the custom of brunch firmly entrenched in the Annapolis lifestyle. My husband and I love to go out in downtown Annapolis and get Sunday brunch. We like to try to find a new place each time, as it’s a great excuse to see what is happening in the area while indulging in a hearty breakfast. Here are a few spots that have appealed to us.
